1 Corinthians 13 is usually read at weddings to remind the couple how important their actions must include love. Paul was writing this to the church in Corinth and providing insight and guidance on how they should be. His words still ring true today. What if he wrote to you? What if you had knowledge and faith to help and protect and teach people, would you use it to help people and protect people and speak for people who cannot speak for themselves?
This week the message included Facts about our Faith. We talked about God existing and God’s love and then we talked about Jesus. Jesus was asked a question by the Pharisees (leaders of the religion during Jesus’ time), “One of them, a lawyer [an expert in the Mosaic law], asked Jesus a question, to test Him, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” and Jesus replied to him, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others]. The whole law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments. (MT 22:35-40 The Amplified Bible)
